[Yeah, he bets Akechi does regret that. He doesn't appreciate that "Like a dog," bullshit. If he could hear watch Akechi was thinking, he'd be snapping at him again. For the moment, he only growls.]
Hey, if I was being chased by a wolf, I’d run up a roof, too. [Frankly Aubrey would like to say this has made her afternoon, but she’s still figuring out how to feel about it. Akechi wasn’t kidding about the bad impressions....]
Anyway, he’s not a dog. [Hm, there’s a silhouette on that rooftop across the block.] I don’t know why he went after you, but his head’s the same in there. He just can’t talk.
[There's a long, protruding silence as he takes in the importance of that statement - his head's the same in there. There's no bestial urges, no room to blame their captor's potion messing with heads.
It's Eren. It was only Eren. It's always Eren.
And Eren is a dog through and through, leashed and tamed by a girl wild in her own right. One who at least offers some neutrality in the wake of his supposed ally's strong feelings against him.
Another note - he owes Aubrey two things now. As a goat herder and dog sitter.]
Of course, a wolf. My mistake. Though this isn't the animal I would have thought he would become. Vaeros certainly has a sense of humor.
[Voice light. Jovial. Playful, like they're old friends, and he's not taunting an insult behind those soft spoken words.]
[She’s reminded of that one time Eren compared people to cattle.]
Yeah, I did. [Dry. And she hangs up.
[Ostensibly not (just) being rude, though; the alley gives way to sunlight, and there’s the Pleasant Boy being glared down by the boy-wolf. It probably would’ve been funnier if Aubrey was still in the mood. As-is, she just pockets her phone and claps once for attention. Here, boy.]
[Eren is back to growling by the time Aubrey approaches; a low, deep sound, rumbling dangerously in his chest. Akechi can climb down when he grows the goddamn balls to face a pair of jaws. He doesn't like the way Aubrey claps for him; and here he thought she wasn't on board with the whole "like a dog" thing.
[Part of him gets that she's just trying to get his attention, but his bark in her direction says, "I have a name."
[He turns and pads over to her, tail swishing, but slowly. He nudges his head into her side, pushing in heavily and holding it there. Let's get out of here...]
[A haven with a perfect view for the wholesome little display happening below him - he stays affixed in his uncomfortable position.
A dog trots to its master at the clap of a hand - it's all Eren in there, she had said. An image he'll laugh about tonight, in the comfort of sturdy castle walls. He isn't stupid enough to risk sliding down, even with him leashed by her presence. When they both turn the corner and are long out of his sight, he'll finally make his way back to whatever he planned to do today.]
Thank you. I hope the rest of your day is a pleasant one - for the both of you, of course.
[Eren’s not a dog, but he heels like one. Shoves like a person, though, and Akechi seems just as eager to be on his way.
[Thing is, Aubrey had questions for both of them. But only one can answer, and she’s not feeling it. They don’t get along, these two, but they have that same funny little quirk: people they don’t like are good as animals.
[She doesn’t know a damn thing about either of them.]
Yeah. See you, too.
[Aubrey watches Akechi for a breath after that; she won’t be pushed along, thanks. But she gives Eren a… sort-of pat, closed knuckles nudging his head down, and skulks off.

I'm curious, Aubrey - did you take the potion to?
